7.3.1 Conciliation service
The Conciliation Service is managed by a Senior Conciliation Officer with ministerially appointed independent Conciliation Officers. Their main task is to facilitate agreement between disputing parties.
The Conciliation Service provides Agents with a daily report detailing:
- new conciliation requests
- any cases that have been finalised.
Conciliation officer
When a dispute is referred to the Conciliation Service, the Conciliation Officer:
- conciliates the dispute and attempts to bring the parties to agreement
- attempts to contact all parties to the dispute (in addition to the formal notification process)
- with the consent of the worker, may meet with medical providers who have examined the worker or rehabilitation providers
- may refer medical questions to a Medical Panel Under the legislation, unless inconsistent with the context or subject-matter —
Medical Panel means a Medical Panel constituted under Division 2 of Part 12

- may exercise functions without having a conference, if sufficient information is available.
